Bastok Quests
Name | Starting Zone | Fame Required | Repeatable? | Requirements | Reward | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Breaking Stones | Bastok Markets | 2 | Y | Dangruf Stone | 400 Gil | The Dangruf Stone can be obtained by interacting with the "???" marker at the I-5/J-5 Coordinate boundary. |
Gourmet | Bastok Markets | 1 | Y | Sleepshroom, T. Bulb, Wild Onion | 100 - 350 Gil | Required item varies by time of day, as does the reward. Please see the quest page for details. |
The Elvaan Goldsmith | Bastok Markets | 1 | Y | Copper Ingot (Made from 4 Copper Ores, 1 Fire Crystal) | 180 Gil | Copper Ore can be obtained from mining, or from creatures in the Palborough Mines area outside of the city. No longer repeatable after reaching fame level 2. |
Father Figure | Bastok Markets | 1 | N | Silver Ingot | 2200 Gil | Quite a difficult craft for new players. Recommend buying on the auction house if it can be acquired cheaply. Requires completion of "The Elvaan Goldsmith" quest above. |
A Flash in the Pan | Bastok Markets | 1 | Y* | 4x Flint Stone | 100 Gil | Repeatable, but time-gated to once every 15 real life minutes. Flint Stones are often dropped by tunnel worms in North and South Gustaberg, just outside of the city. |
Mom, the Adventurer? | Bastok Markets | 1 | N | Copper Ring | 200 Gil | Speaking to the NPC to start the quest will give you a letter in your key items. If you read the letter, you only get 100 Gil instead. |
The Signpost Marks the Spot | Bastok Markets | 2 | N | Running to Konschtat Highlands | Linen Robe | Requires "Mom, the Adventurer?" to be completed first. |
The Bare Bones | Bastok Markets | 1 | N | Bone Chip | Dangruf Map | The Dangruf Map provides you with a map for the Dangruf Wadi area - however, I recommend installing Remapster rather than using the ingame maps. Please see the Remapster page for details. |
Buckets of Gold | Bastok Markets | 1 | Y | 5x Rusty Buckets | 300 Gil | Rusty buckets can often be obtained when fishing, early on. This may be a good way of obtaining some starting gil. |
The Siren's Tear | Bastok Mines | 1 | Y | Siren's Tear | 150 Gil | Requiring nothing other than travelling to a different zone, this is a very easy starter quest to get a bit of money. |
Hearts of Mythril | Bastok Mines | 1 | N | Running to North Gustaberg | Sitabaki | An easy way to obtain some starting gear if you're playing a Monk. |
The Eleventh's Hour | Bastok Mines | 3 | N | Running through Palborough Mines | Small Sword | This one can be quite dangerous, so I would recommend getting some experience with the other quests before this one. |
Fallen Comrades | Bastok Mines | 2 | Y | Silver Name Tag | 550 Gil | Silver Name Tags are dropped from Onyx or Greater Quadavs in the Palborough Mines area. |
Drachenfall | Bastok Mines | 2 | N | Running through Dangruf Wadi, Brass Canteen (Obtained during Quest) | 2000 Gil | I recommend reading the quest requirements thoroughly on this one, as it's a little more complex than the other quests in this list. |
Vengeful Wrath | Bastok Mines | 3 | Y | Quadav Helm | 900 Gil | Quadav Helms drop from Old Quadavs in Beadeaux. They can also be bought on the Auction House. |
Minesweeper | Bastok Mines | 1 | Y | 3x Zehrun Soot | 150 Gil | Zehrun Soot can be obtained by killing low-level monsters in Zehrun Mines. A good low-level quest for experience and Gil. |
Beauty and the Galka | Port Bastok | 1 | N | Zinc Ore | Bronze Knife | Given that a Bronze Knife is easily purchaseable for 150 Gil, and the Zinc Ore costs 200, you should only do this if you're looking for quest completion. |
Shady Business | Port Bastok | 1 (Norg, not Bastok) | Y | 4x Zinc Ore | 350g | Important: While this quest isn't financially worth it, it is one of the best sources of fame with the Tenshodo Faction. A lot of players will buy Zinc Ore and take the financial hit to increase access to Tenshodo items and gear. |
Welcome to Bastok | Port Bastok | 1 | N | Shell Shield (Equipped) | Spatha | |
The Quadav's Curse | Port Bastok | 1 | N | Quadav Backplate | Bronze Subligar | Quadav Backplates drop from Amethyst Quadavs in North and South Gustaberg and Palborough Mines. |
Forever to Hold | Port Bastok | 2 | N | Brass Hairpin | 300 Gil | |
Till Death Do Us Part | Port Bastok | 3 | N | Cotton Gloves | 2000 Gil | Requires "Forever to Hold" to be completed first. |
Past Perfect | Port Bastok | 2 | N | Running to Konschtat Highlands | Scale Mail | Great starting armor with minimum requirements. |
The Wisdom of Elders | Port Bastok | 1 | N | Bomb Ash | Traveler's Hat | Traveler's Hat is a great piece of early-game gear for White Mages. |
San D'Oria Quests
Name | Starting Zone | Fame Required | Repeatable? | Requirements | Reward | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Waters of the Cheval | Northern San D'Oria | 1 | N | Running to East Ronfaure | Wing Pendant | Unique piece of early game agility gear and wind + earth resistance. No reason not to do - only takes about 5 minutes! |
The Vicasque's Sermon | Northern San D'Oria | 2 | N | 70 Gil | Brass Ring | Decent early game non-mage gear for not much work. Requires "Waters of the Cheval" to be completed first. |
The Trader in the Forest | Northern San D'Oria | 1 | N | Running in West Ronfaure | Robe | Good early game gear for mages. Better than buying a robe when starting out. |
Gates to Paradise | Northern San D'Oria | 2 | N | Running to La Thiene Plateau | Cotton Cape | Very good early game back item for mages - probably your best-in-slot for a decent amount of time. |
Undying Flames | Northern San D'Oria | 2 | N | 2x Beeswax | Friar's Rope | Excellent early game belt item for mages (you may have noticed a trend with a lot of these quests!) Recommend buying the Beeswax on the auction house unless you intend to get into crafting. |
Fear of the Dark | Northern San D'Oria | 1 | Y | 2x Bat Wings | 200 Gil | IMPORTANT:This quest is absolutely one of the best money-makers for beginners, as you'll be killing bats anyway for experience. Remember to save the wings and turn them in here! |
The Pickpocket | Port San D'Oria | 1 | N | Running to West Ronfaure | Light Axe | Great early game weapon for Warriors, and for a lot cheaper than you can find on the auction house. |
A Taste for Meat | Port San D'Oria | 1 | N | 5x Hare Meat | 120 Gil, Grilled Hare | You'll likely be killing rabbits to level up anyway, so you may as well do it. It's a shame it's not repeatable as the grilled hare is pretty good for early game food for Warriors. |
The Dismayed Customer | Port San D'Oria | 1 | N | Running to West Ronfaure | 560 Gil | Easy to do, fair amount of money. Nothing more to say about it, really. Requires "A Taste for Meat" to have been completed. |
The Brugaire Consortium | Port San D'Oria | 1 | N | Running around Port San D'Oria | Lauan Shield | Easy access to a shield for classes that use it - saves you buying one! |
Lufet's Lake Salt | Port San D'Oria | 1 | N | 3x Lufet Salt | 600 Gil | Lufet Salt drops from River Crabs in West Ronfaure. Please note that it is not the same as Rock Salt, which also drops from the crabs. |
Thick Shells | Port San D'Oria | 2 | Y | 5x Beetle Shells | 750 Gil | Beetle Shells are dropped by Stag Beetles in Jugner Forest. |
A Sentry's Peril | Southern San D'Oria | 1 | N | Running to West Ronfaure | Bronze Subligar | Easy way to obtain some low-level warrior gear. |
Rosel the Armorer | Southern San D'Oria | 1 | N | Running to Northern San D'Oria | 100 - 200 Gil | Be sure to read the cutscene text to make sure you give the receipt to the right prince! Otherwise, you will only get 100 Gil from this quest. |
The Seamstress | Southern San D'Oria | 1 | Y | 3x Sheepskin | Leather Gloves | Decent protective gear in exchange for loot from animals you will likely be killing anyway. |
Lizard Skins | Southern San D'Oria | 2 | Y | 3x Lizard Skin | Lizard Gloves | Requires completion of "The Seamstress" quest above. Good mid-low level gloves. |
Black Tiger Skins | Southern San D'Oria | 3 | N | 3x Black Tiger Hides | Tiger Stole | Excellent neck-gear for non-mages. The skins drop from Forest Tigers, which can be found in Jugner Forest. Requires completion of "Lizard Skins" to accept. |
Tiger's Teeth | Southern San D'Oria | 3 | Y | 3x Black Tiger Fangs | 2100 Gil | These can also be obtained from the Forest Tigers in Jugner Forest, as above. |
The Sweetest Things | Southern San D'Oria | 2 | Y | 5x Honey | 400 Gil | Honey drops from Huge Wasps in La Theine Plateau. |
Grave Concerns | Southern San D'Oria | 1 | N | Running (Read the Quest Details) | 560 Gil | Easy quest for easy money. Make sure you read the details in the quest walkthrough on the website! |
Grimy Signposts | Southern San D'Oria | 2 | N | Running around Jugner Forest | 1500 Gil | Seems simple - however, Jugner can be quite dangerous for new players. Exercise caution. |
The Merchant's Bidding | Southern San D'Oria | 1 | Y | 3x Rabbit Hide | 120 Gil | Excellent repeatable quest for early-game gil, similar to the bat wings quest above. You'll have plenty of these when killing rabbits, so take advantage! |
Starting a Flame | Southern San D'Oria | 1 | Y | 4x Flint Stones | 100 Gil | Again, good quest for early game money. You'll be killing lots of the worms outside San D'Oria which drop the flint stones needed here. |
Windurst Quests
Name | Starting Zone | Fame Required | Repeatable? | Requirements | Reward | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Teacher's Pet | Windurst Waters | 1 | Y | Bird Feather and Two-Leaf Mandragora Bud | 250 Gil | Bird Feathers can be bought on the Auction House, but Two-Leaf Mandragora Buds are an exclusive item that you'll need to kill Mandragoras in East/West Sarutabaruta for. |
In a Pickle | Windurst Waters | 1 | Y | Smooth Stone | 200 Gil, Bone Hairpin (First Completion Only) | This quest can be annoying because the questgiver might not accept the stone you give her. It may take multiple stones before you get the quest reward. |
Truth, Justice and the Onion Way! | Port Windurst | 1 | N | Rarab Tail | Justice Badge | Very good early game neck-gear for White Mages. Worth buying a Rarab Tail on the auction house. |
Making Amends | Port Windurst | 2 | N | Animal Glue | 1500 Gil | Animal Glue can be purchased on the auction house for relatively cheap. |
Something Fishy | Port Windurst | 1 | Y | Bastore Sardine | 70 Gil | Good way to get a decent price for Bastore Sardines if you take up fishing, but this can be tedious as you need to change zone every time you complete the quest. |
Curses, Foiled Again! | Windurst Walls | 1 | N | 2x Bone Chip, Bomb Ash | Brass Rod | Brass Rod is one of the early "physical" clubs rather than "magic" clubs, though it does have a bonus to INT. |
Mandragora Mad | Windurst Walls | 1 | Y | One of the following: Cornette, Four-Leaf Mandragora Bud, Snobby Letter, Three Leaf Mandragora Bud, Yuhtanga Sulfur | Between 120 to 5500 Gil | IMPORTANT: This quest is one of the main ways of increasing fame with Windurst. You can buy Cornettes in Bastok when Bastok is at least 2nd place in the Conquest rating. For more information on Conquest, please see the Beginner Tips Page. |
Star Struck | Windurst Walls | 1 | N | Torn Epistle, Meteorite | Compound Eye Circlet | The Compound Eye Circlet is a very, very good piece of early game evasion gear. I strongly recommend doing this quest for everyone. You have to kill the crawlers on Starfall Hillock for the meteorite to drop! |
The Postman Always K.O.'s Twice | Windurst Walls | 1 | Y | One or more of the following: Damp Envelope, Muddy Bar Tab, Odd Postcard, Torn Epistle | Between 50 - 500 Gil | The reward for this quest varies depending on how many of the required items you turn in. Turn in all four types for the maximum reward. |
The All-New C-2000 | Windurst Woods | 1 | N | Rabbit Hide, Two-Leaf Mandragora Bud, Insect Wing | 200 Gil | Two-Leaf Mandaragora Buds are Rare, Exclusive items (cannot be traded and you can only have one at a time) that drop from Mandragora enemies. |
Creepy Crawlies | Windurst Woods | 1 | Y | 3x Silk Thread OR 3x Crawler Calculus | 600 Gil | A stack of 12x Silk Thread sells for around 11000 Gil on the Auction House (at time of writing), so if you have the silk, I'd recommend selling to other players instead. |
Mihgo's Amigo | Windurst Woods | 1 | Y | 4x Yagudo Necklace | 200 Gil | Yagudo Necklaces drop from the Yagudo enemies around Sarutabaruta. This quest is also a great one to raise your Norg fame. |
Paying Lip Service | Windurst Woods | 1 | Y | 3x Beehive Chip OR 2x Remi Shell | 150 - 200 Gil | The questgiver rewards 150 Gil for Beehive Chips, or 200 Gil for Remi shells. |
